Application Information
Admission to the Bioengineering graduate program is contingent upon the availability of openings for incoming students and is very competitive. Although the numbers vary from year to year, we admit approximately 15% of the students that apply. Admission preference is given to those who apply to the direct Ph.D. program. Consideration of applications for admission and financial aid begins shortly after the听January 15听application deadline, and students awarded admission will be notified by the beginning of March. Please be advised that applications are reviewed and considered as they are received, and only completed applications are considered. Applications will continue to be reviewed until all available admission slots are filled. Because of the sequential nature of courses in the graduate curriculum, full-time students are admitted for the fall semester of the academic year; full-time students are rarely accepted for the spring semester.All application materials indicated below must be sent to:听College of Graduate Studies, UH 3240 MS 933, 2801 W. When applying for the graduate programs in Bioengineering, please use the following codes:
- The College code is听ENG
- The Degree code is听MSB听if you are applying for a Master's degree
- The Degree code is听PEG听if you are applying for a Doctoral degree
- The Major Code is听BIOE听for Bioengineering
Applicants for admission to Bioengineering must complete the following steps:
- Complete the on-line听. Indicate in your Statement of Purpose which area of bioengineering is of interest to you and/or with which faculty member(s) you would be interested in working. Information on research areas of the faculty in the Department is available on the听.
- Complete the听UT Graduate Assistantship Application Form.
- International students applying for a graduate assistantship need not complete the听UT Financial Statement Form.
- Submit the non-refundable $45 application fee by check or money order made payable to "兔子先生传媒文化作品".
- Submit three (3) letters of recommendation; the听UT Recommendation Form听may be used. Letters should address your academic potential.
- Submit official transcripts from all previous college level work.
- Submit scores of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE). The GRE General test is required of all students. 兔子先生传媒文化作品 testing code is 1845. The exam should be taken so that the results are available in听闯补苍耻补谤测听for fall admission and financial aid consideration. The minimum acceptable total score from the verbal and quantitative sections is 1100. Analytical writing scores will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
- International students must submit scores from the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). The minimum acceptable score for the TOEFL is 213 for the computer-based test and 550 for the traditional paper-based test.
