When is payday? The current pay schedule provides for the biweekly issuance of payroll on Fridays. Check out our Payroll Schedules page for exact pay dates and what dates are included in that paycheck.

听Upon terminating employment, what leave time will be paid out and when will I receive it?听听Payment for any accrued unused vacation will be paid out according to University policy and will be processed within twenty-eight (28) days of last regular pay.听 Sick time is only paid out upon retirement, and is paid out based on University policy. For all other separation reasons, sick time will remain on record for a period of up to 10 years and can be transferred to other state agencies.
I'm a salary employee, how do I determine my hourly rate for payouts?听I'm a salary employee, how do I determine my hourly rate for payouts?听For 12 month employees: divide your annual salary by 26 bi-weekly pay periods. Then divide your bi-weekly pay by the amount of hours you would work in two weeks. For full time employees this is 80 hours. For 9 month faculty: divide your annual salary by 19 bi-weekly pay periods. Then divide your bi-weekly pay by 80 hours.

How do I change my tax filing status/exemptions/allowances?
I recently moved states, how do I change if Ohio or Michigan taxes are being withheld? If you need to change which state (Ohio vs. Michigan) or school district taxes are being withheld, please fill out a paper state tax form and submit to the payroll office at MS 975. To change any voluntary local tax withholdings, please fill out a voluntary local tax withholding form. To access the paper versions of these forms click here.
Who do I contact for questions on my deductions?
What is imputed income?听What is imputed income? Full time faculty, unclassified and classified exempt staff and UT police are provided with term life insurance through UNUM. The premium paid by the University of Toledo in excess of $50,000 is considered as "imputed income" by the IRS and is subject to taxes. This amount is applied to your paycheck听as a taxable benefit.听This is not an additional deduction, but it does slightly increase your taxes as it is added to your applicable gross for Federal, State, Medicare, and Local taxes.

Why isn't Social Security withheld from my check?听Why isn't Social Security withheld from my check? 兔子先生传媒文化作品 is a State Funded institution. You are required to pay into one of the state retirement systems (OPERS, STRS, LEO) instead of Social Security.
Am I required to contribute to OPERS/STRS/LEO?听Am I required to contribute to OPERS/STRS/LEO? Membership in the appropriate state retirement system is required for all classified and unclassified staff members who work less than 75% FTE. Full time staff members can elect to contribute to the state retirement system or to听an Alternative Retirement Plan.听This election needs to be made within 120 days of start date.听Students have the option to request an exemption from contribution while working and attending classes. This election needs to be made within 30 days of start date. While not attending classes, students are not exempt and听are required听to contribute to OPERS.

Is听direct deposit required?听Is direct deposit required?听Yes, direct deposit is required for AFSMCE members (per Article 23.1) and for all employees per UT policy.听听It is highly recommended for the following reasons:听
- Prompt Payment - Deposits are made on payday so you won't have to wait for it to be delivered.
- Peace of Mind - You won't have to worry about mail delays or lost checks.
- Convenience - No special trip to deposit or cash your check. Payments are in your account even if you are out of town/ill/etc. and can't make it to the bank.
- Savings - No check cashing fees. Many banks offer rewards for utilizing employer direct deposit.
- Availability - You still have access to your paystub on the MyUT Portal.
How do I set up direct deposit?
I signed up for direct deposit but didn't receive my whole payment.听I signed up for direct deposit but didn't receive my whole payment. Double check that on MyUT you selected the Employee tab prior to signing up for direct deposit. You could have elected to receive direct deposit in another department other than Payroll. If you split your pay between multiple bank accounts, make sure that the final account is set to receive 100% of the balance remaining. Check the date that you signed up for direct deposit. The deadline for a Friday payday is the Tuesday before at 1pm. If you have information under the Employee tab and you signed up prior to the deadline and still did not receive your whole net pay, please call the Payroll Department at 419-530-8780.
My deposit isn't showing in my bank account.听My deposit isn't showing in my bank account. What should I do? First, log in to your MyUT and check that you are receiving a paycheck and that it was sent as direct deposit (located at the bottom of your paystub).
Then, look at your direct deposit information and make sure that the account number is correct. If the account number is correct, please allow the bank time to process the deposit and double check after 10 am on Friday (as most banks do not open until 9 am). If the account number is incorrect, please contact the payroll department for additional information. If you have any questions, please contact the payroll department at 419-530-8780.
Can I split my deposit between multiple accounts?听Can I split my deposit between multiple accounts? Yes! You can have up to three banking accounts. Please note that the last account must be set to 100% or your full pay might be delayed.

How much will be deducted from my paycheck?听How much will be deducted from my paycheck? Child Support is based on the Income Withholding Order (IWO) which is received from the issuing county. We withhold on a bi-weekly pay schedule, which is the monthly amount multiplied by 12 months and then divided by 26 pays. Garnishments are based on your disposable income (gross earnings minus retirement contributions and taxes). Most court garnishments are 25% of that amount while federal garnishments are 15%.

That's too much. Can it be lowered?听That's too much. Can it be lowered? Both child support and garnishments are court orders. 兔子先生传媒文化作品 is mandated to withhold based upon that court order. Please contact the Judgement Creditor or their attorney to work out a payment plan.
When will they stop?听When will they stop? Court garnishments will be ended once the garnishment is paid in full based on the amount listed on the court order. Federal garnishments and child support will not be ended until the payroll department is given a release form from the issuing agency.
