  • We are in for considerable change at the National level

Executive Committee Report (Jami Taylor)

  • Exec committee met on Friday
  • Discussed updates from core curriculum committee
    • Believe they will be ready for special meeting in December
  • Received update about centralized advising
  • Discussed the agenda

Faculty Senate Report (Gaby Semaan)

  • 11/05 Senate Report
  • Presidential search committee formed, working on job description
  • Provost search is postponed until a President is appointed
  • Committee formed for future bookstore
  • Responses collecting on scheduling is ongoing
  • Search for Dean of Business has begun
  • Minority and gender-based scholarship report on which scholarships would be awarded
  • The money for the DEI office has been redistributed to admin
  • Student success plan presented, pushback from faculty
    • Student success was not defined
    • Priority is getting students in and out in four years o Right fit was explained in terms of student abilities
    • No clear response on tracking
    • Not trying to prevent students from switching majors
  • Core curriculum report presented
  • Dr. Rouillard presented findings on survey

Graduate Council Report (Ed Lingan) 

  • Head of council had meeting with President, wants to bring more events back to campus
  • Research mixers continue to happen, check email announcements
  • Office of Research Compliance is offering training
    • Will come in to talk to grad faculty, reach out to them
  • University Assessment Office is moving assessment report curriculum maps into CIM
  • HLC has updated its criteria - next visit is in 2026 – but updates are in effect as of 2025
  • Syllabi workshop project to develop a database of all undergraduate syllabi

Elections Committee Report (Sam Nelson)

Constitution Committee Report (Jami Taylor)

  • N/A

Curriculum Committee Report (Anthony Edgington)

  • All curriculum committee items passed (four course proposals, one modification, and two program changes detailed in the materials folder for this week.
    • Motion to approve moving the course to Senate; Seconded; Motion approved

New Business

  • Program Prioritization
    • It is important to update the job outlook dashboard so that a more realistic picture is formed of what jobs students get upon graduation
  • Centralized advising
    • Minimal changes for spring semester
    • Faculty advisors will still play the same role, but very little information has been given
    • Any kind of structural transition brings pain points, but many people are invested in its success
