- Molecular scale analysis of bioadhesion and biofilm formation
- Biofilm formation and its control in water systems
- Biological and chemical dynamics in water systems
- Disinfection by-product formation and control in water distribution systems
- Developing biofilm control and detection methods on medical devices
- Development and application of environmental sensors (microsensors / nanosensors) to monitor physical / chemical activities in microenvironment
- Developing sustainable water and wastewater treatment processes
- Microbial interactions with nanoparticles/ Fate and transport of engineered nanoparticles
- Sustainable biodegradation and bioremediation of recalcitrant and toxic contaminants
- Membrane processes for water & wastewater treatments (membrane biofouling control)
